abstract = "For decades environmental degradation in coastal areas has been
occurring more frequently due to the plundering of natural
resources and poorly planned land use planning, enabling real
progress and accentuation of tourist activities in these areas.
For this reason it is proposed to create legally protected areas
in order to minimize the impacts. Therefore, in this study we
sought to survey the physical characteristics of soils,
geomorphology, hydrography and climate in order to compose a legal
technical basis for creation of Nature Conservation Units in the
city of Marapanim-Pa. The results were spatialized using
geoprocessing techniques for cartographic representation, with the
use of GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite images and ArcGIS
10.3 software, thus obtaining thematic maps, enabling more
effectively the decision-making of actions that proposed area.",
